Omkar Mohapatra is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, who joined the Gorodetsky Group in September 2022.

He received his joint B.S. and M.S. degree in Chemistry from National Institute of Science Education and Research (Bhubaneswar, India) in 2021. Prior to joining the Gorodetsky group, he worked on the synthesis of tetra-coordinated boron-based polyaromatic hydrocarbons. Omkar is interested in the chemistry and applications of polyaromatic hydrocarbons and in the development of bioinspired materials.

In the Gorodetsky Group, Omkar’s current research is focused on the synthesis of materials for octopus-inspired camouflage and signaling systems.
